Access Bank & Jacaranda FM Womenpreneur Her Perfect Pitch South Africa 2023 Competition: Terms and Conditions

  1. The [Jacaranda FM and Access Bank Womenpreneur Her Perfect Pitch 2023] Competition (“the Competition”) is organised and run by (Jacaranda FM and Access Bank South Africa), including their affiliates, partners, associations and agencies.
  2. The Competition is open for entry by female participants who are between the ages 18 – 60, have a valid identity document or passport and are residing in the Republic of South Africa during the period of the Competition, the business should have a minimum of 50 % female ownership, must be in operation for more than 1 year and the business must be registered in South Africa up to and including the judging and prize redemption dates (“Participants”/”you”/”your”).
  3. No director, member, partner, employe or agent of, or consultant to Access Bank and Jacaranda FM, or a supplier of goods and/or services in connection with the competition, or their spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members, may participate in the Competition.
  4. This Competition consists of your chance to win the below prizes:


    Top entrants will win 1 x 10 education prizes to the value of R 50 000 each.

    1st place prize – R 100 000, towards your business, paid into a transactional business account opened at Access Bank plus R500 000 worth of advertising value on Jacaranda FM including:

    • Conceptualization, production, creation of a radio advert & amplification on Jacaranda FM’s digital channels,
    • Six-week mentorship,
    • Tailor-made business model, PR,
    • Branding consultation and
    • Digital consultation

    2nd place prize – R 75 000 towards your business, paid into a transactional business account opened at Access Bank
    3rd place prize – R 50 000 towards your business, paid into a transactional business account opened at Access Bank

  5. The Competition entries will run online from [1 August 2023] and close on [31 August 2023]. No late entries will be accepted
  6. To enter the Competition Participants must successfully register a participant profile online and complete the online competition questionnaire.
  7. Participants are required to have their own personal Facebook, Instagram and Twitter account.
  8. Entries are limited to 1 (one) entry per Participant. Participants will only be entitled to 1 (one) prize each and the top 10 will be eligible to the education prize and the prize money according to their position as the winners.
  9. The prizes do not cover any other costs of the participants whatsoever. All participants are responsible for covering their own travel expenses and accommodation costs incurred during the competition. The organisers will not be liable for reimbursing any travel or accommodation expenses. Participants are advised to make their own arrangements and bear any associated costs related to their participation in the competition.
  10. Entries must be by the person submitting them and not by a third party on the Participant’s behalf.
  11. Incomplete or incorrect entries will not be eligible to be entered into the competition.
  12. Participants are responsible for their own costs of connecting to (whatever platform). No responsibility is accepted for any entry that is not delivered, received, or is delayed or damaged due to technical reasons or failure on the part of a service provider. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.
  13. Prizes are not transferable.
  14. The prizes may differ from that shown on the promotional material with regard to illustrations, images, colour and specifications and the same shall be subject to availability and by the Sponsors sole discretion to select the same.
  15. All eligible entries will be vetted by an independent person in terms of the Consumer Protection Act.
  16. Should the participant make it to the top 30 they will be requested to attend an online or in-person breakfast session upon which a video pitch (no longer than 2 minutes) will be required for final judging. The participant should ensure that in the making of the pitch video, no third-party rights including intellectual third-party rights were infringed and/or violated.
  17. Failure to submit your video pitch by the submission deadline will result in disqualification from the next round of the competition.
  18. The video pitch judging will take place during October 2023. Entrants who qualify for this stage will be notified by email.
  19. The top 10 participants will be contacted via telephone and email on the contact number provided on the application submission.
  20. The top 10 participants will be required to attend an in-person Dragons Den in Johannesburg where they will be required to pitch their business for the final top 3 position selection.
  21. The final 3 winners in respect of positions will be announced at a Gala event to be held in Johannesburg in November 2023.
  22. The judges’ decision in determining the winners is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.
  23. The Sponsors representative will make 3 (three) attempts within 5 (five) working days of the final judging taking place to contact and notify the selected winner telephonically. If the selected winner cannot be contacted personally after 3 (three) attempts, the winner will forfeit the prize and a replacement winner will be selected from the names selected by the judging panel from remaining qualifying Participants. This process shall continue until the winner has been contacted in terms of the terms and conditions.
  24. The Sponsors reserve the right to select an alternative winner in the event that that they reasonably believe, in their sole discretion, that the winner is not eligible to win, fails to accept the prize, has contravened any of these terms and conditions, acted fraudulently with regards to the Competition or if it would be unlawful to award the prize. The winner will forfeit the prize. The Sponsors decision shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  25. The winners will be contacted by the Sponsors to arrange deposit of the prize money paid into a transactional business account opened at Access Bank.
  26. The winners will be required to sign an acknowledgement of receipt of their prize and will be required to furnish the Sponsors with their names and identity numbers in terms of the Consumer Protection Act.
  27. The Sponsors reserve the right to request the winners to provide positive identification to the bank, including a valid identity document or passport.
  28. The Sponsors reserve the right to extend, reasonably shorten, suspend the time period of the Competition or terminate the Competition whenever it should so choose for technical, commercial, or operational reasons, or for reasons beyond its control or generally for any reason whatsoever within their sole discretion. The Competition, its prizes, and any rules, terms or conditions may be amended by the Sponsors , at any time during the Competition, and will be applied and interpreted within their sole discretion. In such an event, all Participants waive any rights that they may have/purport to have in terms of this Competition, and acknowledge that they will have no recourse against the Bank and partner agencies whatsoever.
  29. Should the winner verbally or otherwise agree to it, the Sponsors may publish the winner’s name and images on, including but not limited to, the Bank’s Facebook page or website, if applicable, without any liability to the Bank’s or remuneration due to the winners.
  30. Should the Participants agree thereto, they may receive future promotional marketing material relating to the Bank.
  31. By entering, a Participant acknowledges and consents that personal information about the Participant will be shared with the Sponsors and their agents to the extent necessary to conduct the Competition and for prizes to be delivered to prize winners.
  32. To the extent permitted by law, all Participants and the winners indemnify the Sponsors, their associated, holding and subsidiary companies, and its directors, officers and employees, against any and all claims for any loss or damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential or otherwise, arising from any cause whatsoever from their participation in this Competition.
  33. By entering the competition, I consent voluntarily to receive marketing material from Access Bank and Jacaranda FM for products, services, and promotions. I can withdraw from this consent at any time, without having to give a reason post the competition duration.
  34. South African law shall govern these terms and conditions and the courts of South Africa shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
  35. By entering this Competition Participants agree to the aforementioned terms and conditions.
